Open Squash TV Commercial Production

Production Schedule

Shot List for Summer Spot

 OBJECTIVE

Produce three commercials for Open Squash promoting their world-class children’s programs, vibrant member community and unique status as a nonprofit organization with the mission of making squash accessible to all.

PUTTING THE PUZZLE TOGETHER

We got the call mid-April that Open Squash needed a commercial to run for their Summer program in less than a month. Within days we scouted the location, wrote a spec scripts edited with temp music, attached to the proposal. Contract was signed by the end of the week and we immediately began casting VO talent and hiring our crew.

The component of the production requiring the most careful attention was the shoot schedule. We needed to coordinate with dozens of adult members, child members, their parents and staff - ensuring that we’d have empty courts available to stage gameplay alongside film lights and showcase the diversity that makes Open Squash one-of-a-kind.

In order to pull it off we composed an elaborate schedule and shot list, with each of our three shoot days broken down into 15-minute intervals. We also had an editor on-site to review dailies and assemble rough edits to help us determine if any re-shoots or pickups were necessary. This also helped us to get a jump-start on post-production in general, ensuring we’d meet the tight deadline.

FINAL PRODUCT

The commercials were turned around on time and within budget. We were able to feature all participants that Open Squash desired to include.

The spots ran on TV in New York City. They were well-received by the community, helped grow the Open Squash brand, increase membership and fill more children’s programs.
