Your phone is secretly a 3D camera!

A Breezy, One‑Coffee Guide to Editing Apple Spatial Video in DaVinci Resolve 19.1+

TL;DR – Got MV‑HEVC clips from your shiny iPhone or Apple Vision Pro? Pop them into Resolve, tweak a couple sliders, and ship a Vision Pro‑ready master before your espresso gets cold. ☕️👇

The first spatial video featured in Plant Shop by Tula House - designed for Apple Vision Pro.

1 – Prep That Footage

You know the drill: copy your original .MOV files (MV‑HEVC codec) to a fast project drive. Fire up DaVinci Resolve  and smash New Project. Name it something catchy like Spatial Awesomeness.

2 – The “Wow, It’s Already 3D!” Import

On the Media page, drag those spatial clips into the Media Pool. Resolve’s AI elves auto‑tag them as 3D – no extra clicks required.

3 – Timeline Tune‑Up

Create a timeline from your first clip, then hit the little next to its name.

  • Untick Use Project Settings

  • Set Mismatched Resolution to Center Crop / No Resizing
    Result: full‑quality pixels, zero mush.

4 – Stereo Preview Like a Pro🎈

Jump to the Color page and open the 3D tab.

  • Vision = Stereo

  • Output = B&W Anaglyph (slip on your trusty red‑cyan specs. Instant depth!)
Now lock the Left & Right eyes together, click the link icon beside Convergence, and nudge until your subject sits comfortably in 3D space. If the image drifts up/down, fix it quick with Transform or Vertical Skew under Stereo Alignment.

5 – Cut, Fade, Repeat

Edit like normal (cuts, trims, music - have fun).
Pro comfort tip: fade‑to‑black between scene changes to give viewers’ eyes a breather. Always keep convergence locked before you slice & dice.

6 – Deliver the Goods

Slide over to the Deliver page:

  • Format: QuickTime

  • Codec: H.265

  • Render 3‑D: Both Eyes as MV‑HEVC

  • Quality: Restrict to ≤ 45 Mb/s (40 Mb/s sweet spot)

  • ☑ Force sizing to highest quality

  • ☑ Force debayer to highest quality
Hit Add to Render Queue, press Render All, and cheers - you’ve got a Vision Pro‑ready master!
